Women’s Health Activist Movement (WHAMglobal)
WHAMglobal aims to empower women to advocate for their own health and that of others within their families and across the healthcare system. They are focused on learning global best practices in maternity care and sharing information and strategies for implementation to collaborators and healthcare networks at the local, national, and international levels. A core tenet of their mission is to address racial disparities in healthcare. Successful past initiatives led by WHAMglobal addressing pregnancy and postpartum care, maternal and child care, and nutrition services include the Pennsylvania Perinatal Quality Collaborative, Pennsylvania Doula Commission, WIC Program Summit, and Pittsburgh: A Safer Childbirth City Initiative. WHAMglobal is an operating arm of the Jewish Health Foundation, a philanthropic organization based in Pittsburgh that aims to improve population health through healthcare innovation, advocacy, collaboration, and education.
